cubbies

Mission: Preschoolers are still at the beginning of their spiritual journey. Cubbies helps children understand God’s great love for them, that they can talk to God through prayer, and that God talks to them through the Bible. Each week, Cubbies memorize and recite a Bible verse from their handbook and work through guided activities at home to help them grow in spiritual understanding.

Upon book completion, 1st year Cubbies receive a teaddy bear to wear on their uniform. 2nd year Cubbies receive a Book ribbon. Cubbies also earn Awana Shares for club participation, being in uniform, saying their weekly Bible verse, and special participation. Three times a year, Cubbies have the opportunity to spend their shares at the Awana Store.

Parents and Preparation: Parents should go through each Bear Hug section weekly with their child at home to help their child memorize their verse and have the option of doing an additional “under the apple tree” activity each week.

sparks

Mission: At this age, kids are asking questions about the when, where, and what of everything. Sparks zooms in on the details of Bible characters and events and helps boys and girls learn why each passage is important. We focus on helping boys and girls learn to know God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Each child works toward individual AND team goals of memorization, behavior, participation and enthusiasm!

Parents and Preparation: Each section in the Sparks handbooks requires verse memory or home activities and offers explanations and applications for each verse. Parents should work with their children to help them memorize each verse to the best of their ability before each club meeting. In order to pass a section, Sparks must be able to recite the memory work with no more than 2 prompts per section by their Sparks leader. truthtraining

Mission: Hungry for truthful answers, these students are asking why, what, and how. In a world where we are told there are no right answers, Truth & Training uses a question-and-answer format to teach absolute truth backed up by scripture. As clubbers learn that they can firmly put their trust in God’s Word, the handbook material reflects a concentration on discipleship and service.

If a student finishes a handbook before the year is over, they may backtrack to do extra credit or continue to the next book. 5th and 6th graders may go back to work on book 1 & 2 after completing 3 & 4.

Awards:
As students progress through their handbooks, they earn unit awards to display on their badge to be worn on the T&T uniform. Students who invest this much in their spiritual education are not only eligible for maximum Awana scholarships, they are also well prepared to take on life with Biblical truth and confidence!

Parents and Participation: Each unit in the T&T handbooks requires verse memory and individual study and offers life applications for each Bible passage. Parents should work with their students to help them memorize each verse to the best of their ability before each club meeting and encourage them in their spiritual journey.
